Grace Archer
I was born in Athens, Georgia in 1969 and was inspired from a young age to pursue all things artistic. I was privately trained in stained glass, felt, jewelry design, knitting and wood carving. As an only child of two professional oil painters, I have many childhood memories of time spent in the art studio painting alongside my mother, Barbara. It wasn’t until I turned 40 that I returned to my painting roots and picked up the paintbrush exclusively.
My preferred medium is oil painting, but don’t be surprised if you see several works in ink or acrylic. I take my inspiration from famous realist artists such as Mark Carder and John Singer Sargent and Impressionist painters Alfred Sisley and Helen van Wyk;
Graces work is an exciting and colourful mix of realism and the loose vibrant paint strokes of impressionism. Whimsical wildlife and birds are a common theme throughout her work.
Grace Archer has had several commissioned works and has paintings in private collections in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
